Altar Guild – Deaconess Helen Weeks, President
The Altar Guild is responsible for all internal floral decorations of the church and sending cards, ordering flowers or bibles for immediate bereaved family members.
Baptist Training Union(BTU) – Deaconess Virginia Bull, Director
The Baptist Training Union (BTU) is an extensive study of God’s Word in the following classes: primary class, Jr. Boys, Jr. Girls, Teen Girls, Teen Boys, Book of 1st Timothy (Men’s Class), Book of Philippians, Book of Colossians, and Book of Ephesians. The Bible states in 2nd Timothy 2:15 to Study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth. The BTU also includes a Hospitality group and a puppet’s ministry. The BTU sponsors Leadership training workshops, and Family and Friends Day Seminar in February.
Church Van – Brother Anthony Jackson, Liaison
The Church Vans are responsible for the transporting of members and visitors to and from the church and other church activities. Transportation is available to BTU (both ways), Sunday School (one way) Sunday 10:45am service (both ways), and Vacation Bible School (both ways).
Deacon Board – Deacon Charles Younginer, Chairman
The Deacons assists the Pastor and is responsible for the ministerial care of the members of First Baptist Church, Bay Shore, NY. They visit the sick and shut-in, and serve communion. They also conduct prayer meetings and are the devotional leaders for our services. The Deacons host the Jewel’s Christmas Fellowship.
Deaconess Board – Deaconess Wilma Corbett, Chairperson
The Deaconesses assist the deacons and Pastor in the ministerial care of the Church family, giving special attention to women and children. They are responsible for assisting women and children for baptism and they take care of the needs of Holy Communion. The Deaconesses also serve the repasses for our bereaved families.
FBC Revitalization/Church Property Development Committee
This committee was formulated some 12 years ago when First Baptist Church started expanding the church property. The committee has been diligent in interfacing with the local and state governments and informing the FBC family of the progress and changes taking place in our community as it relates to First Baptist Church. The committee produces a quarterly Newsletter.
Food Pantry –
The food pantry is a blessing to the church and the community by providing food to those persons in need. The pantry distribution center is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00noon. Other distributions are made by appointment only. The Food Pantry and the Missionaries give out Thanksgiving Baskets for the Jewels and those persons in need of a Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings.
Greeters' and Hospitality Committee – Deaconess Virginia Bull, Organizer
This committee is dedicated to welcoming everyone to the church especially visitors visiting for the first time. They give out a special welcome packet which includes a greeting from our Pastor, statement of mission, and a CD of an encouraging Word from the Lord delivered by Pastor Clark. They take their responsibility seriously making everyone feel welcome into God's house.
Hour of Power
The church comes together for prayer and teaching for a powerful hour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 6:00 am and 8:00 am on Saturday mornings.
The Jewels – Sister LaTanya Johnson, Committee Chair
The Jewels are persons who have reached the age of 70 years and beyond. They are a unique group who have their own activities throughout the year including Annual Jewels Day, summer fellowship at Fire Island, and a Christmas Fellowship sponsored by the Jewel’s Committee and the Deacon Board. First Baptist Church s blessed to have 40 Jewels. The 70-Year Jewels have their own page in this website.
Men for Christ Ministry – Brother Arthur Gatewood
This ministry consist of all the men of our church coming together in unity to do what God has assign their hands to do for the body of Christ.
Ministers Council – Elder Willie Pearl Manning, President
The Council consist of the Elders and Ministers of the church aiding the Pastor and First Baptist Church Family with ministerial assistance, intercessory prayer and the laying on of hands. The Ministers Council sponsors Workshops to benefit the whole congregation.
Missionaries – Sister Emma Lee Ford, President
This Ministry is responsible for reaching out and serving others at First Baptist Church, and the community at large. They serve the church and community at Thanksgiving time and help the Deaconesses with serving our bereaved families.
New Members Classes – Rev. Dr. Daris Dixon-Clark, Elder Xvarier Goodwin, Instructor Minister Carleen Lawrence, Instructor
The New Members Classes are designed to equip new members with understanding the plan of salvation. The New Members are informed of the various ministries and auxiliaries of our church and the meaning of church membership. Candidates for Baptism are given further instruction on the reason and method of water baptism.
Health Concerns Committee – Elder Frances L. Bell
President First Baptist Church is blessed to provide the Health, Healing and Wellness Ministry that provides information and resources regarding to health and well-being. The Ministry has provided various seminars on a Healthy Heart, Prostate Screening, AIDS Awareness, Breast Cancer, Diabetes and all around Healthy bodies. Our speakers are doctors, nurses, social workers as well as representatives from various hospitals. The Health Concerns Committee has sponsored several Health Fairs. First Baptist has had the Long Island Teen Challenge visit us. This organization's mission is to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, physically well and spiritually alive, through ministering to those who have been substances abusers.
New Way – AA 12 Step Program
This group is a community outreach that meets 2 times a week, Mondays and Fridays at 8:00 pm to aid and assist persons with alcohol addiction. The meetings are held in the Church Annex.
Political Action Committee – Sister Mary Reid
The Political Action Committee keeps First Baptist Church informed of the politics in our neighboring communities, counties mainly Suffolk and the state. They have sponsored political seminars, workshops and an Annual Meet the Candidate Night.
Prison Ministries –
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.- 1 John 3:17
Angel Tree – The First Baptist Church connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. Church members make an annual commitment to this highly rewarding program. Church members and volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the GOSPEL to children in the name of their prisoner-parent.
Correctional Facility Bible Study – In conjunction with Gideon’s International a monthly Bible Study is held at the Riverhead Correctional Facility for female inmates.

Scholarship Committee – Sister Mae Lane , President
The Scholarship Committee recommends high school graduates for scholarships from the church for the school year. After the students are selected and approved they receive a check from the church and correspondence from the scholarship committee each month. This communication helps the students financially, spiritually and emotionally.
USHERS - Sr. - Sis. Alberta Powell and Jr. Sis. Trimecca Burton, Presidents'
The Senior and Junior Ushers are responsible for escorting, directing, seating, and in general keeping order during worship services.
NURSES - Sr. - Sister Cleo Wheeler and Jr. Sis. Jade Smith, Presidents'
The Senior and Junior Nurses' assist those who may need First Aid during church service. The members are certified by the Red Cross in lifesaving techniques but cannot administer medication.
Sunday School – Brother Roger Corbett, Superintendent
The Sunday School is one of the most exciting ministries in the Church. It is a place where the scriptures come alive and we clearly see how God's word applies to everyday life. Individuals are given the opportunity to share, evaluate and learn meaningful Biblical insight. The classes are specially designed that children as well as adults learn in a comfortable and enjoyable setting. This experience affords the opportunities for spiritual growth. Children and adults are challenged to become knowledgeable of God's truth, thus, building stronger Christian character and Biblical foundations. The teaching staff of the Sunday School meets every Tuesday evening at 7pm to study the Word and prepare for the lesson on Sunday Morning. All are welcome to join them in the study.
Tape Ministry – Sis. Nakia Brothers
First Baptist Church coordinates an extensive Tape Ministry that consists of audio tapes and CD’s of the various services. The Tape Ministry is a comprehensive library that offers tapes from Sunday services, and special services. Tapes are offered for a nominal donation. The tape Ministry offers tapes to the homebound at no cost. This needed Ministry provides many members the opportunity to have FBC in their homes when they might not be physically able to attend services regularly.
Thursday Night Prayer Service
The church comes together for prayer on Thursdays at 8:30 pm when BTU is in session. During vacation from BTU prayer service begins at 7:00 pm. 2 Chronicles 7:14. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Travel Committee – Sister Eunicetine Farmer-Lee, President
The purpose of the Travel Committee is to bring wholesome and enjoyable entertainment and travel to the church body.
Trustee Board - Brother Anthony Jackson, Chairman
The primary responsibility of the Trustees is to manage the business affairs of the Church. The Trustees assure that accountability practices for support, revenues, expenses, changes in financial and/or operational policies are in place and proper.
Vacation Bible School–
Two weeks of children from 3 ˝ to 18 years old spending time and enriching their relationship with the Lord. If they are not saved yet they receive every opportunity to establish a relationship with the Lord. Many children receive Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour during these 2 weeks. The two weeks are culminated with a presentation of the Vacation Bible School showing all that they have learned and experienced and the Church Annual picnic.

YOTM (Youth Council)–Sis. Deborah Brothers, Director & Sis Ashley Oluwa, President
The First Baptist YOUTH ON THE MOVE FOR CHRIST (YOTM) Youth Council has many activities during the year. They are definitely on the move for Christ. They sponsor outings, trips, donate monies to the Bread and Soup Ministry, fellowship with the children of Little Flower, sponsor programs such as “Let the Children Speak”, Talent Expo, Youth Revival. They have also developed a sign and mime ministry. The Youth will have a well-deserved page on the website.
